Public school wasn’t great when I was a kid, but there is no way on earth I would let a child in my care anywhere near a US public school circa 2013. Zero chance. None. I believe we must start local, volunteer, neighborhood schools and training programs. Leave the government out of it, entirely, and do what is natural: call each other to excellence — with our children at the fore, not the rear.
