This, like the forest, is a signalling context. So, too, the universe. There are signals from every part of the body of time. As stars. And invisibles. Here, as in the forest, the signals carry information. Some carry intelligence. Some carry masquerades. There are sirens. There are singers. Predators; cryptic and overt. Parasites; cryptic and overt. There are healers, and murderers. In every aspect of our humanity, from the relational to the intellectual, to the commercial, to the personal.

But there are some other features. There are listeners. There are, in this context, highly advanced … participants who are examining the entire bandwidth of these signals for special kinds of evidence. These are superusers. They can sift and repurpose anything we do here. Most of these are predatory and parasitic. But there is another kind. A rather transcendental listener, who is listening for signs of those few people or collectives capable of … ascent. To another order. Signals that display peculiar aspects of purpose or sophistication.

Signals perhaps a bit like this one.

And these listeners, these benevolent superusers, also have purposes. But they are not those of the parasites or predators. In fact, they are fundamentally and provocatively beyond that entire framework. They are ways of developmental flight, that reveal our desperate crawling for what it is: evidence of tech-damage.

They are looking for signals of something like adaptive relational intelligence. They are more rare on facebook than exotic isotopes in time. Allow me to suggest we learn together how to make some. While we have enough left to resurrect its nature, purposes, and sources.
