The tree of relationships that naturally emerges from the existence of an organism is practically the opposite of the tree of computations that naturally emerges from the activity of a device. Computations are not relations. And brains know this, from inception onward. Children can tell the difference between something alive and a representation. When relating with living things, the developmental brain activity is momentous. When relating with objects, it is relatively mild, and profoundly different in character, form, and developmental effect. Machines are not your friends, and they change what your brain is and does in ways you cannot detect. And this problem gets worse, the more they are made valuable, fashionable, iconic, powerful, compelling, and badges of social elitism. Much worse. Think, starfish-monkeys. The choices you are faced with are not choices if you cannot choose. And if what is blinding you is the same thing forcing your choice?
