There’s a formal force, and an informal force. The informal force -must- contain and be the source of the formal force. For much of recent history, the right hemisphere of the brain was thought to be ‘of little consequence’. ‘Approximately as intelligent as a chimpanzee’. It turns out that they had it backwards; they were listening to the half of the brain -that cannot detect half of reality-, is an inveterate liar, and accounts for everything except what it actively overlooks (which always includes its own mistakes).

Now, what I want you to see, is that the same thing happened in nature. There’s a formal force, and an informal force. We found the formal force, what we understand as genetics or natural selection. This force pushes development -from behind-. We have overlooked the informal force, upon which the formal depends, and which pulls development forward -from the future-. We simply do not believe in this other force, yet. Here’s the problem: it’s most of the force there is, and it shaped DNA like its plaything.

But the more serious problem is this: we read nature -as- the formal force. And we shaped our minds, ideas, and behavior, after competition’s likeness. Yet, quite obviously, even to idiots, the planet is a platform for the most profound forms of mutual competition -for mutual benefit- imaginable.

Except to Homo Sapiens Sapiens, who misunderstood the difference between behind and before. And then attacked themselves with it.
