“Some specific corporation -has- to come along and become so rabid that we put it down like a machine gone lethally haywire. In our case, we have a select group of them. This is a developmental moment for our species and our extended cultures: what do we do when an enemy of universal proportions dons the garb of a sophisticated web of businesses and financial organs?

This is the predecessor-lesson that prepares us to pursue the next order of its expression: what do we do when our own government and people begin to attack us (i.e. themselves)?

And this may require a special corollary skill that we must also yet discover: what do we do when the nature, function, character and activity of our intelligence — as instanced in our minds and collectives — fails to be intelligent, and leads us into, instead of the progress that is the promise of intelligence, catastrophe — which is the near guarantee of recklessness and myopia?

Frankly, we need to look at this last problem with the same kind of urgency as if it were a gun pointed uniquely at the heart of every living thing and mind on earth. Because even though that sounds metaphoric, the metaphor is weaker, in this case, than its projection.”
