It is as if I have a part in me that flies. And sees. As if ‘from above’. But the above isn’t space, as with a bird, though it can be that, I think, as well. It is a peculiar angle on meaning that reveals ‘another order’ of relationships. ‘Another order’ of subtle correspondence — an order sometimes magical, or incisive, like… perhaps not unlike a magpie’s take on the physical space and its objects and possibilities. And what this aspect ‘sees’ is relational features that language ordinarily does not convey or concern itself with (because only special -intentions- of language try to encode or convey such figures). And so part of what emerges are ‘perceptual vignettes’, in which a novel perspective is either outlined or communicated. Sometimes this involves humor, or critique. Sometimes it is an attempt to optimize our often malfunctioning intelligence (both humor and metaphor also do this). When I see with my flying self, I can see in entirely new ways. Language is not the only result. Indeed, the language and produce are merely side effects of the wonder I experience from seeing thusly, and learning to continue to do so more deeply, more usefully, and more intelligently. But my flying part does so many things… so many nameless ways and learnings. And it can see space at a distance, too… but I rarely use it thus, so do not practice it.
