“Though it could be otherwise, our laws are essentially like large representations of gods made of words. They are as strange, if not more, than inexplicable monoliths towering into the sky, composed by distant ancestors, who chose… or even -needed- to live beneath their domineering shadow. But why would we repeat such primitive conflation, confusion, and compulsion? And why would we remain, as they most certainly were, largely oblivious to this?
Their collective senses of these authorities within were so highly charged they had to be made into stone gods on Earth. We are simply the next evolutionary phase of this. We did away with the stone, and made our authorities out of (and this is -really- embarrassing) -sequences of words-.
It is as if, animated by some rogue aspect of your psyche, your bookshelf overcame you in the night and became your master. Except, secretly, inside, it was some broken part of -you- playing this out. Some aspect of our cognition has gone haywire over representations and even gives us books filled with sequences of words that it demands we recognize has having ‘come from god’ or ‘his prophets’. I think it is time that we stopped creating and obeying invented gods that are the puppet images of shadows our psyche is creating, representing, and attacking us with. This is as much true for each person as it is for each culture.”
