“On the way to my grandparents’ house there is a large cemetery. In this cemetery there is often a German Shepherd joyfully and energetically chasing his tail. He is not always there, but if he is, he is chasing that tail like I’ve never seen a dog chase his tail. He jumps and spins and runs in an ecstatic dance of epic silliness. It is beautiful and profound, and I think the placement of this dog’s activity; in the place the dead of ancestors, on the way to visit the living ancestors is an image of something about me/us/reality.”
