Tonight’s film rocked my world and changed me forever as a child. The music is really bad, but the film is excellent.

Silent Running (1972)

Not many people are aware amputees were recruited to animate the droids; Huey, Dewy, and Louie.

The basic plot is that the remaining living places of Earth had to be represented in artificial ecologies and ejected into space to survive. This was done on huge ships with domes.

Due to budget cuts, on Earth, the ships are commanded to eject and destroy the domes, which represent the last living examples of Earth’s ecosystems.

One man rebels against the order.
