“Many traditions imply that there are two of what we might call ‘worlds’ or magical dimensions associated with our world. Many if not all of the dominant modern traditions, popular and esoteric, have divided and distorted these in bizarre ways. The one below (and within) is Nature and the one above (and without) is Heaven.

We have teachers and companions in both. In both worlds there are those who depend upon us to be true and good as well. But the dominant traditions in our time co-opt these matters with absurd descriptions and stories, and sell us back paradigms and religions that reduce the real to something like cartoons. Many of these imply or state that the lower (inner) world is a place of punishment or evil. This is an egregious lie that must be openly opposed. Both worlds are implicitly divine, and this world, ours, is their marriage — unless some other story makes us recreate it in the flat and uninhabitable image of our twisted fetishes of divinity and evil.”
