The words of such authorities carry a secret poison that attacks the intellect of any who taken by it. Thereafter, as converts, they will defend and propagate the poison, claiming it is beautiful, or true.

Since the underlying intelligence of our species has gone aggressively haywire, a span of at least many thousand years by all appearances, allow me to suggest that slathering metaphysical fantasies and half-baked psychoses masquerading as spiritual paradigms on top of that is the worst possible reply — the resulting miasma of grandiloquent stupidity is even more catastrophic — because it now proceeds under what it imagines to be some divine rubric.

Nevermind the mystery cults: human intelligence has been broken for some few thousand years. And the way we think about spirituality and religion is a huge part of the damage, in general. We need to become at least half as serious about human intelligence and development as we are about developing weapons, cars or religious propaganda. We need this 50 years ago.
