While everyone was getting themselves into a lather over nonsense about dates started by a few insane white people making claims about a few dead indigenous people (which is to say, approximately over the past 15 years) I decided to talk to and observe nature, instead of apocalypse geeks.
I discovered many fascinating things, none of which need detailing here, except those having to do with the humans and their incredible hubris and actual stupidity. Some of these are worth sharing.
1. There are important moments in the history of consciousness and the Earth happening all the time, and they are ignored when people make and become enthralled by date-predictive speculations such as these. In fact, this is one of the primary purposes of these predictions: to give people an excuse to ignore their own role and await some external savior or crisis with fervency or fear. In case it isn’t clear, this is stupid, and debilitating.
2. While our species is busy fomenting various apocalyptic activities and outcomes, furiously, in plain and public sight, this sort of story becomes a pressure-valve that reduces the necessity of responding directly, again, ‘postponing’ the consequences or naively awaiting a divine or cataclysmic intervention. Instead of actually doing anything about these activities, converts sit around with glazed expressions speaking in private language about nonsense. Well, that’s an interesting reply, and it might help to foment apocalypse, but it won’t have anything to do with star alignments or ancient South American timekeeping.
3. The earth is undergoing changes. This is always happening, but it appears that now, our own activity is feeding back into the system with deadly result for a simple reason: our activity is driven by stupidity, convenience, and greed. This has nothing to do with calendars. The coincidence is meaningful, but not in the way people suppose. The meaning comes from the subconscious sense that something is horribly amiss, and it is: us. But instead of determining what the problem is, and resolving it, we invent and succumb to elaborate nonsensical fantasies about calendars, frequencies, alignments, and world-ages. The changes in the environment demand intelligent, attentive response. Instead, we get brooding ignorance masquerading as some kind of clairvoyant blessing. In case this isn’t clear, that’s poisonous, and its primary effect is to insure we will not actually do anything to resolve our role in generating natural, social, and ecological catastrophe.
4. It’s not a joke: people with severe emotional and cognitive problems are perennially ‘sensing’ that the end is near. It’s been like this practically forever. It’s a psychological projection. Except now, we have whole subcultures devoted to it. What will be interesting is to see how these adapt when, for example, the world obviously fails to end or be in any specifically traceable way affected by the mere passing of dates, which is certainly going to be the outcome. Here’s a hint: none of them will admit error. They will go into ‘extended play’ fantasy about the ‘new age’ which has now dawned, when in fact, the only new age that is dawning is a new age of rampant stupidity masquerading as enlightenment. Self-and-other delusion is not intelligence.
5. If you actually take time to talk to ‘sky people’ who may in fact be available to your questions, you will discover that modern humans know about as much about calenders, meaning, and time, as mouse feces know about law libraries, which is to say: nothing at all. Time has features and characters which our species is currently incapable of even noticing, nevermind attending. It slows down and speeds up, and it needs ‘occasional correction’ from other temporal frameworks, as well. It is not now and never was mechanical in the way modern humans frame it. Anyone who has awareness or insight will immediately understand this, and this single bit of awareness is enough to make it clear that to read the nature of the future one must be intimate with -time- not human stories about the future. It is the same with a family, a lover, or a book. Anyone who is thus intimate will sense the changes, real upheavals, and world-ages in a way that has nothing to do with any of the nonsense on sale by people like Braden, Pinchbeck, and others of their reprehensible ilk.
6. Inventing cults doesn’t solve deadly problems of misformed intelligence and human ignorance which are the actual causal factors of the futures we are invoking with our own activity.
7. Time is relational and biocognitive. It has less to do with counting and regular intervals than humans desire or imagine, so they just make stuff up to feel better, or worse, as the case may be. Investigate these matters in person, directly, and do not accept second or fiftieth-hand stories about strange indigenous temporal clairvoyance. Such stories are predatory thrisps. Should they convert you, your human intelligence will be severely compromised.
2012 is bullshit. If you want to understand time, become intimate with nature. Much like our concepts of time and temporality, modern human calendars are completely arbitrary mechanical nonsense and are missing whole domains of meaning and content that are necessary for a healthy relationship with time and the living planet.
