Over here, on the right, you have philosophers and linguists, semanticists, and analysts of various kinds. Over here, on the left, you have two people who are in love. Now, over on the right, there is a great hullabaloo of controversy and testing and such going on about whether or not love actually exists and this particular couple is in it. But inside the couple, something that doesn’t have a lot to do with courtrooms and testing is going on. And the people over on the right will never be able to account for it, or properly evaluate it, or prove it, even though it is happening right in front of them. Only inside the couple does this question ‘does love exist’ have applicative existence. And there are a lot of questions like this, in the sense that the context and purpose of the one posing the question matters. Some of these questions have to do with god; because, similarly, the public argument bears little resemblance to the inward reality.
