Human beings understanding themselves as the only local intelligence is like your index finger pretending that the rest of your body is ‘really just a convenient delusion’ and has nothing to do with its existence or activity. But to really be human, this estranged finger would have to start attacking the body, probably starting with the eyes and mind, to insure that later attacks could proceed unnoticed or catastrophically misunderstood.
