It is my perspective that one of the most crucial goals we might formulate and accomplish is the establishment of small, tightly-knit transcultural seeds in the form of human groups.

These will look like ‘teams’ or little tribes of 3-7 people (or sometimes associations of such groups) who have come together with the underlying agreement to understand the mind and world, and to rescue all beings, for the sake of each other and their world.

One of the peculiar features of these rings of student-agents is that they will consistently avoid and explicitly deny the thrall of any dogma, religion, or form of scientism. Armed with uncommon insights related to the functions of language, thought, and knowledge, they will be largely immune to narratives and propaganda. And they will spread this immunity, publicly. Acting in common unison for mutual well-being and benefit, they will develop, acquire and distribute essential protections against the tool-like cognitive, physical and relational prostheses that have been attacking the very intelligence they partially establish for thousands of years.

More intimate even than families, these ‘rings’ will re-invent ‘culture’ (and intelligence) in the image of living beings and places, not tools, while accomplishing both their own incredible personal growth, and astonishing acts of public transformation, re-translation, and rescue. Avoiding self-aggrandizement or disproportionate material wealth, power, they will be free to continually accomplish tasks and changes previously thought impossible — for the sake of improving circumstances for all living beings and places.

These seeds, acting sometimes in isolation, sometimes in cooperative rings, will both discover and teach us how to be human again. They will be based only upon the agreement to act in mutual awareness and benefit in all matters, and to better strive to understand what this means. All ages will play. And all ages will win. This is a game with the power to not only transform the future… it can actually change the meaning of human history … by fulfilling it.

I have been playing now for 10 years. Other players are still rare. But the future lies with us. We must find games that train both personal and communal intelligence at once. And we must vastly surpass the models that currently own us. Models of culture, humanity, and intelligence. .. for these models are not what they purport to represent. Largely, and with few exceptions, what we are owned by are the opposites of our ideals, in masquerade.

Our relationships with language and knowledge are so badly damaged that the damage is making culture and human intelligence in its image. This is not survivable, and as the process continues we become less and less capable of recognizing or amending it since that with which we would detect or troubleshoot these problems is the primary target of the damage.

We need to develop entirely new ways of being human and making culture together. Ways that support development, internally, and relationally. Ways that are spacious enough for a humanity that isn’t merely the desperate servant of damage to its own intellectual and relational intelligence.
