The mind is comprised of constellations of prostheses which are largely the result of cultural impositions. Over time, we become confused, and recognize peculiar arrangements and concatenations these prostheses as the self. As ourselves.
But this is not ourselves at all.
Above the duality is a profoundly sophisticated and ancient unity, which is profusely endowed with both intelligence and creativity. It is a selfless self. It needs no containment, and will not suffer any. It needs no identity, for its -way of being- is -identity itself-.
Our confusion about these matters and the prostheses is natural given our common situations; but it is the source of nearly all of our suffering.
And, frankly, those sufferings are not compulsory. They are the result of our confusion of the constellations and their output… with ‘myself’. If we do not make this comparison error, we will not suffer for these features of experience which are masquerading as the entirety.
And that is a great and lasting relief.
