The modern human person has, by and large, as a result of the peculiar and invisible nature of their relationships with language, knowledge, belief and culture, exchanged direct participation in the event… for reception and manipulation of invitations.

Invitations, you see, are concrete. You can -know- what and where they are at all times. You know what they will ‘do’. You can move, manage, collect, distribute, count, cache or destroy them. You are the Sovereign of the invitation-object. But the event? That’s just a cloud. You can’t even put it in a box!

There’s an imposter in the nursery of human cognition, and its name is: word.
