When I see quotations extolling the virtues of ‘civilization’ I feel as if I have been covertly struck by ironic lightning.

I am fairly certain that we quietly obliterated every trace of anything vaguely resembling peaceable, habitable, mutuality and progress… that we’ve ever come across… not to mention what we’ve baldly failed to establish given the impossible abundance of resources and opportunities we have put to the torch in our quest for… deeper states of hubristic confusion.

And we’re the experts on civilization?
