The voice is the instrument of the soul, yet nearly all have forgotten its inherent power as an instrument of communication. Long ago, I suspect we nearly sang when we spoke, and the effects were not entirely mentalistic. The rhythm and tone of our voices, properly employed — the essential musicality of melodious speech coupled with the spirit whose fire energizes it — naturally catalyzes various forms of trance… nearly all of which we are unfamiliar with, for we no longer attend the voice closely. We have almost completely reduced its power to its utilities. The arts of speaking are nearly extinguished. But not entirely. Not yet. And some amongst us may redevelop them… and rediscover there the prodigies of memory, expression, and participation that our ancestors knew firsthand.
