“We had been preoccupied for some time with the likely root kinship of the words “Logos”, “light”, and “lie” (untruth); now the Indo-Germanic root of -Logos- (from the Greek verb lego) is -leg-, that of “light” is -le(u)k-, and that of “lie” is is presumably this same root, -leg:le(u)k-. But this is of course merely the inversion of the root -kel-; in other words, in the mirror sound — where everything is reversed — obscurity and concealment (-das Verhehlte-, “what is hidden,” -die Hölle-, “hell,” and -die Höhle-, “cavern,” which are all silent) become light (and also voice). That is, when inverted, -kel- “darkness,” is -leg-.

The effect of this law of mirroring inherent in the unity of the roots is consistent with what we have called the -speculatio animae-; whatever is “inside” becomes visible “outside” in the mirror image. One meaning is expressed directly in the word, while there is an additional latent and unexpressed “inner” meaning that is directly expressed as a complimentary (and thus unitary) rather than antithetical meaning. The mirroring thus renders this complementary meaning expressible and audible.”
