In thinking about the idea of reincarnation, it seems likely to me that we are probably born from and return to an atemporal context in-between lives. From such a position, why would we presume we would be born into the future? It seems to me that since we could enter time at any point it would be probable that we would be born in the past. And if this is true, any surviving personality aspects would be, literally ‘remnants of a possible future in which I previously existed’.
