An important part of the reason representative democracy has utterly failed is that we no longer need representatives and those we have do not represent the people or our consensus (if they ever did). Effectively our ‘representatives’ are like our representations: reductive, false, superficially attractive, self-aggrandizing, virulently greedy, and contagiously immoral. They are mimics who parasitically feed upon the perks of their positions, while sucking up to whatever larger parasites and special interests will fund their continuance.

Representative democracy is non-democracy, and it is fiercely outdated.

We can represent ourselves. We don’t need mimetic parasites masquerading as heroes ‘in our name’. In fact, what we need is liquid government, and we have the technology to easily institute it. If we fail to, the future will be spent serving those who rape us, charge us every possible price for this privilege, and blame us for being their unwitting victims.
