The candle cracked and split
like lightning struck, and told my name
her secret forth, this coupled ache
of blood and wonder’s piercing trace

And where it split, a shining burst
of fire and shock, a storm came forth
the walls recoiled, my life destroyed
there, where hope and love confessed

The candle cracked, and severed now
all trust and joy, from reach
and in the aftermath of bliss
all wreckage wrought, in venom’s kiss
