7 forms of ‘Love’:
Eros: a passionate physical and emotional love based on aesthetic enjoyment and attraction; the stereotype of romantic love.
Ludus: love that is played as a game or sport. The goal is personal accomplishment, fulfillment or enjoyment. It generally involves conquest and hierarchies of lovers, multiple partners and common infidelities.
Storge: an affectionate love that slowly develops from friendship and deepening intimacy, based on similarity and communion. Respect and mutual understanding are common hallmarks.
Pragma: love that is effectively rational, realistic, and pragmatic, rather than intrinsically romantic. A love based on common needs, senses of value, and goals. Convenience may also play a role.
Mania: obsessive love; indicative of great emotional highs and lows; very possessive and often jealous lovers. Often the entire world of those involved is confused for the relationship. Need is prominent, as is a sense of possessiveness or even ownership.
Agape: selfless altruistic love; a spiritual and non-egoic relation, but not necessarily lacking eros.
Philia: friendly or filial love, the love that one may have for family or other creatures, or possibly love born of deep communication without desire for physical eros.
