Our relationships with language and knowledge are, fundamentally, a form of pseudo-hypnotic trance. This specific awareness is the first step to acquiring the capacity to step beyond this trance, to avoid its pitfalls, and to take advantage of the opportunities obscured (by habit, ignorance, tradition, and socialization) within these relationships.
