One of the more accurate metaphors for our world is: Flower. Now, keeping this clearly in mind, think about the combined sentient activity of the living beings of Earth as effectively producing an analogy of pollen which has physical expressions but is fundamentally relational.
At the scale of galaxies, there are beings who are approximately like bees. They gather the ‘pollen’ of worlds such as ours, and produce something not entirely dissimilar to honey — except that this produce gets re-distributed to the worlds they visit, effectively ‘fertilizing’ these worlds. They are attracted by the effulgent expression of diverse and anciently evolved biocognitive relation and sentience.
Machines make them sick, frustrated, and angry — just like us. When they discover a world infested with machines, they either try to heal it… or avoid it.
