The universe is incredibly unusual. We have a planet packed with anciently evolved sentience, in webs more complex than the sum of human technology over time, webs with the capacity to inform and transform us… but we attack them, and all of their constituents… because we have this disease called representation. We lay waste to this impossible beauty and incredible cache of -=living information=- because … well, we like our information dead and manipulable, thank you.

This is a disease where you adore ghosts and tokens instead of living beings. You kill your child and carry around a bone with their name on it. That sort of thing.

You are already competing with virtual entities for attention and survival, and -=they are winning=-. But this is about to become impossibly more severe over the next 20 years.

The bizarre peculiarities of our relationships with what we call knowledge (and its vehicle, language) are the source of the environmental disaster, and all the other human-inspired ‘progress’ that is ripping our planet (and our own putative intelligence) a new one.
