We bring to human birth a cavity of sorts within which rests a holy egg. Later, if we are exquisitely fortunate, a magical being will most certainly emerge from the egg. We call this egg a mind, and think we possess it. We are mistaken. What we have is the egg, and the chance to nurture it. Nearly none actually hatch; most are stolen in youth, and replaced with an impostor.
