A shadow moves through my heart’s sky.
From above heaven the hit comes, a shock of claws and talons.
My feathers fall to earth, the cloud of my final broken prayer.
The monster carries my body toward a hidden roost.
But the seven crows go mad with the sight.
The monster is named, revealed, chased, and harried.
Overcome by winged shadows, she drops my lifeless husk.
The silent earth receives my broken shell.
The crows circle, clorphing and wrawking.
They sense my spirit’s spiral rising
and grant my disappearance rightful honor.
