Love radically reforms the character, flows, functions, and momentum of time. This is, in part, why the onset of love is so astonishing and inspiring, and why (again, in part) heartbreak is often felt with such depth and severity.

Prior to experiencing love’s fertilizing embrace, time’s flow and content may seem relatively mundane… ordinary — but within the experience of love they become magicalized, enhanced, and radically expanded as we partake of the joys of loving and bonding.

In love, time acquires new streams of flow and meaning, new domains of content; each stream expressing its own unique temporal momentum. This contributes to a profound sense of abundance.

When the beloved departs, we may be stunned to discover the sense of deep impoverishment that often results as time flattens out, losing dimensionality and color. We are left with the memory of these matters, but without the awareness. Our experience of time may seem deadened and empty of its previous diverse streams of nurture. We have the sense of the change, but not the explanation.

Love and time are intimately related.
