The bird is not a creature or an object. It is a peculiar way of folding the entire universe in upon itself. It requires many strange and exotic foldings to produce such living phenomenon. But make no mistake: each one is the whole of time, and all of the universe. There is simply no other way to make them. Like we have hands and eyes, the universe has its endless arrays of living worlds within worlds within… if only we remember this, the creatures become first windows… and then… doors. But alas! We have forgotten!
