It is my direct experience that ‘God’ lies beyond human ideas and cultures… not within them. God isn’t sitting around waiting for thanks, or even notice. In fact, I would venture to say that whatever/whoever ‘God’ may be, this metaBeing is absolutely -nothing- like human ideas, models, or descriptions.
But perhaps most egregious of our self-aggrandizing illusions about God is that ‘God’ requires or desires or somehow benefits from our fawning, slave-like attention. This is analogous to the idea that your brain’s best use lies in the continuous fomenting of extended conjectures about itself. Such a position is almost absolutely absurd, and destroys what it claims to establish: i.e. insight.
If you want a chance to relate with holiness… your -first move- should be a total divorce from human cultures, especially those we call ‘religions’.
This does not mean I am without a deep sense of gratitude. I experience gratitude in deep flows that remain largely wordless and formless. I am also thankful for having discovered within my life and relationships a more direct relationship with holiness, rather than one mediated by virally-motivated cult-ideas whose primary characteristics are virulence and self-aggrandizement.
