When you have a creature that essentially reached evolutionary equilibrium 4 million years ago… you have a simple reason: perfection.

If intelligent ‘aliens’ came to Earth, I suggest they would ignore the humans… and head straight for an actually intelligent population… one that can speak with light on its skin, and match almost any background… even though we suspect that most cephalopods cannot see color… there’s much, much more. Cephalopods are, in general, unbelievably relationally intelligent… and most are quite short-lived.
