Humans only invent abstractions of things that -first- exist to their experience. Try to understand how important this is.

Arrows pierced hearts in our minds, before they did so in our hunting or our metaphors of love. This is how it works.

Now listen closely: Before we had writing, we had memory. When we got writing, our memories languished. Before we had photography, we had imagination. Before we had telephones we had telepathy, and before we had radio we had wide-range tele-clairvoyant sensing.

Before we had television, we had group-dreaming. Before we had movies we had world-dreaming.

But here’s the most important abstraction so far: before we had the internet… we had direct access to every position in timeSpace. The internet is an abstraction of the soul’s web.

I realize how ridiculous this sounds. It’s also (physically) impossible that it is not a fact. But don’t take my word for it. Get rid of writing and recover memory. Lose the telephone and recover telepathy. Forget movies and television, and recover something I cannot name for we have no word for it. And… using the internet… recover your direct access to what it is an abstraction of, and replaces in our common experience.

See, I too have a ‘cell phone’. I’ve always had one. But it is not a machine, and it’s signal strength is permanently glorious. I’m not going to try to explain who this phone can reach, because your models cannot yet sustain anything even vaguely like the answer. The difference between you and I is this: I understand that machines are abstractions of something secret. And I found what we abstracted them from…

Here’s a hint for where to look: living things are not what you think they are. At all. They are so unlike what you think that were you to recognize them the shock would almost certainly cause immediate loss of consciousness.
