If the animals had a representational culture of their own, the stories they would tell of us would make our stories of aliens seem colloquial in comparison. All of the incredibly inexplicable phenomenon we ascribe to aliens could be nothing more than an internal reflection of our own character and activity in the biosphere. We fear ‘attack from above’ for a simple reason: around here, that’s what we are.
