Perhaps the trope of the ‘clumsy airliner attempting take-off’ I often experience during near awakening dream activity is a sort of psychic metaphor for my dreaming spirit re-acquiring ‘the waking vessel’, which is (compared to my dreaming body) gigantic, unwieldy, prone to crashing, and which will, upon awakening, take up most of the energy and attention of the dreaming hemisphere (for, of all things, navigation!).
