I will be surprised if ‘advanced civilizations’ have spacecraft at all; I suspect that spacecraft are really only attractive to (extremely) primitive civilizations. In fact, we must hope that advanced civilizations might have largely or completely done away with cumbersome physical technologies… in favor of … organisms.
