When cultures break down under the severe stress of commercialism, mimetic politicism, warmongering, loss of crucial infrastructure, and the cruelty of the daily lives produced by these conditions, their constituents become vastly more vulnerable to drug use and addiction. Should cultures react to this by building prisons, it proves that they fully intend to consume their own citizens by any means necessary.
