Part of how we evaluate identity, purpose, function and value whilst awake is by applying an overlay of narrative. We do not ordinarily notice that we are doing this, and instead pretend the narrative and the real are the same thing. This leads to disaster, misapprehension, and further narrative storms in a desperate cascade of attempts to explain the failures of the previous narratives.
