The story of the HAL 9000 computer in 2001: ASO is a metaphor for what is happening on Earth: an artificial intelligence (in us) is taking over the world (our environment) and attempting to eject or consume everything that lives. HAL isn’t a machine, in this case — he is the analog-person established in the left-hemisphere during enlanguaging and enculturation. He owns our lives and world.
