I’d love to know what percentage of ‘animal communicators’ and animal-people in general were born into homes with extant pets (especially dogs). That full-face lick? That’s no mere friendliness gesture. It’s basically a transfer of crucially sensitive commensal microbiota. It links you, forever, to animal lineages beyond number. But it doesn’t require a lick. A nose-touch is enough.
