One of the problems with democracy is that if you miseducate a population in a certain way and then ask them whether they prefer cell-phones or giraffes, you get cell-phones. Unfortunately, if you ask if they prefer cell-phones or children they will say children, but their actions will say cell-phones. This is true in many other avenues of modern culture. We are become a self-distributing Cargo Cult.
